THE PROBLEM

When the standard part works technically but looks wrong

The existing pipe was closed with a standard orange plastic cap. It did the basic job, but its shape, colour and general finish were visually out of place next to the grey paving and surrounding wall.

Suitable ready-made alternatives were difficult to find, so the replacement was designed around the installation instead of adapting the installation around an unsuitable product.

01 · BEFORE / AFTER

A cleaner fit for the surroundings

The new part conceals the pipe with a flat square top and a neutral appearance that integrates much better with the surrounding materials.

The comparison image is practical rather than polished: it shows the actual reason the custom part was needed.

02 · ENGINEERING

Simple outside, considered inside

The exterior is deliberately clean, while the internal design provides space for insulation and uses reinforcing ribs to support the large top surface.

The CAD model shows a 240 mm design dimension and approximately 55 mm of internal insulation space above the internal structure.

03 · CUSTOM FIT

Designed around the existing pipe

This is a good example of a one-off part where 3D printing avoids compromise. There was no need to accept an available product with the wrong shape or finish simply because it was the only standard option.
